Dacia (day-shuh)
My vocation is connection, and I am honored to use these skills in support for new families. I offer full spectrum doula services with a focus on birth, postpartum, and nutrition. I love to begin working with families during pregnancy and continuing that support through the 4th trimester, adapting to your needs and family dynamic, but am happy to begin services at any point. My previous experience working in mental health and community services management has provided a strong foundation in supportive education, body/breath work, mind/body connection, and intuitive decision making. I am Mama to two terrific kiddos, but have expanded my knowledge of pregnancy, birth, infants, and postpartum beyond my personal experience with years of continued training and curiosity. I am guided by the mentorship of inspiring women who have shaped my life with countless conversations and wisdom infused support. I love to cook, travel, weave, and will find any reason to celebrate (especially if cute homemade decorations might be required).
Scope of Practice
The cornerstone of doula care is to provide non-medical, non-judgmental support and guidance for individuals and families navigating life's critical transformations. As a certified professional doula, I offer compassionate, heart-centered care built on evidence-based practices, practical problem-solving, and connections to community resources. Doulas are not medical providers and do not perform any medical procedures, do not diagnose, and do not provide medical treatments.
My support is always customized, adapting to the unique needs of each family, while adhering to certain foundational principles:
Personalized Care Planning: I assist in creating and developing individualized care plans tailored to each client's specific needs and goals.
Evidence-Based Information: I provide evidence-based information on general health practices to empower clients to make informed decisions about their care.
Continuous Learning: I am committed to continuous research and learning, staying up-to-date with evolving scientific understandings of the body and mind.
Holistic Support: I support the entire care team, including partners, family members, and hospital staff, always working within my scope of practice.
Infant Feeding Support: I offer support with all methods of infant feeding (breast, bottle, tube, etc.).
Parenting Skills: I provide guidance and support for infant soothing and coping skills for new parents.
Nutrition Support: Nutrition support, including meal planning and/or meal preparation, is available upon request.
Cultural Sensitivity: I honor cultural and family traditions, respecting each client's values and beliefs.
Resource Referral: I facilitate access to vital community resources, such as mental health support, transportation assistance, housing, food programs, new parent groups, and more.
